DONATE-A-BOAT PROGRAM
TAX DEDUCTIBLE BOAT DONATIONS
North Carolina Community Sailing & Rowing qualifies as a non-profit organization under IRS Code 501(c)(3) and is seeking boat donations. Sail and power boat donations will be sold to help fund our development and programs. Selected boats will be retained for use in our programs.
You will benefit from the donation in several ways:
• Receive a tax deduction and feel good knowing that you are helping make sailing and rowing accessible, affordable and safe for citizens of all ages and abilities.
• Avoid the time energy, expense, and stress associated with selling your boat.
• Immediately end all boat related expenses, dockage, insurance, maintenance and storage.
• Pay no commissions, avoid marine surveys and complete the entire transaction in a few days.
HOW TO DONATE YOUR BOAT
Contact NCCSR via email info@nccsailrow.org or phone us at 704-947-7245 (SAIL).
From our initial phone conversation, NCCSR will ascertain details, location, and overall condition of your vessel.
A representative of NCCSR will contact you to set up an appointment to look at the vessel and arrange to take possession. We will not accept a boat without telling you what our plans are for it upfront.
For donated vessels that we are not able to make substantive use of or material improvements to, the value is determined by the price we sell it for. This eliminates the guesswork and risk of you determining the value of your donation.
For boats valued for more than $500, NCCSR will provide the donor with a copy of your “Deed of Gift” which includes a description of the vessel, and an official Thank You Letter. If we use the vessel in our programs we will help you determine the fair market value. If the vessel is sold we will provide you with written acknowledgement of the gross sales price along with the deed of gift.
