Sailing Programs

We are here to provide affordable access to the sport of sailing while building a community in a safe, family-friendly environment. Our Season Pass program entitles the holder to a vast array of networking activities along with the use of all of our boats and facilities. Instilling good habits with all our sailors and ensuring safety is our top priority.

Learning Opportunities:

            Youth Sailing:

                    Summer Camp (420 & Sunfish):
                                 Seven weeks of Introduction and advancement opportunities for young people to the sport
                                 of sailing. A great way to meet new friends in a fun, on-the-water environment. Fee is $175 
                                for your first camp registration. If a camper signs up for a second summer camp,  the fee for the second camp is $140.


                        Scholastic Sailing (Spring & Fall 2010) (420):

                                  Introduction to the sport of sailboat racing. This is a competitive format complete with
                                 the assistance by coaches to build sailing clubs at area schools. Fee is $250.


Learn To Sail (Homeschool PE (Fall 2010)

Our curriculum is designed in conjunction with US Sailing and will be customized to progress at the pace of the students. We focus on building a solid foundation of skills through understanding basic sailing theory in the classroom and applying it out on the water. Instilling good habits with all our sailors and ensuring safety is our top priority. By the end of the class participants will have earned their Small Boat Sailing Certificate and should be authorized to skipper both Sunfish and 420 class sailboats outside class activities. Opportunities for advancement into competition are also available. Cost of the class is $200- ask us about Financing and Scholarships.


             Adult Instruction (Sunfish & Flying Scot):
                           Group and personal lessons to create knowledgeable and successful sailors. Prerequisite for
                           anyone that has no or "not ready to skipper" experience and who wants to participate in our
                           season pass program.  Learn to sail classes along with opportunities for advancement are
                           available now through late Fall. Fee is $185 for Sunfish Learn to Sail and Sunfish Intermediate classes and $225 for Flying Scot Learn to sail classes and $265 for Flying Scot Intermediate classes.

 

             Experienced Sunfish Sailors
New 6 hour Sunfish Racing Clinic introduced. Check back soon for new dates. Fee is $125.

Season Pass Sailing:

                           Monday evening Sunfish racing with first race starting at 6:00 PM.

                           Social sailing (Flying Scots) on Wednesday evening from 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM & Saturday mornings  7:30 AM to Noon.

                           420 racing on Thursday evenings from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. 

                           Free season pass sailing at the following times:
                                    - Tuesdays from Noon to 8:00 PM
                                    - Wednesdays from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM
                                    - Thursdays from Noon to 8:00 PM
                                    - Fridays from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM
                                    - Saturdays from 7:30 AM to Noon.


Our Fleet of Boats:

Sunfish (below): personal size (can be beach launched) sailing dinghy. Operators are solely responsible for all aspects of its use. Dynamic type of sailing requiring good physical conditioning and strong swimming ability. One person only (two is possible) with a maximum weight of 210 pounds.




420 (Below): Double-handed (2 people) planning hull dinghy complete with 3 sets of sails. Dynamic type of sailing requiring good physical conditioning and strong swimming ability. Maximum two people for scholastic / youth only.




Flying Scot (Below): Comfortable and durable sailboat which offers a great stepping stone into larger boats while maintaining a level of accesability. Two to four people with a maximum weight of 800 pounds.
