Volunteer Needs

The success of North Carolina Community Sailing & Rowing depends on community volunteers like YOU!   Our volunteer schedule is a monthly calendar - no long term commitment required!  If you are interested and can devote some of your time, please contact the center at 704.947.SAIL (7245) or email info@nccsailrow.org.  We'd love to have you on board.

Local Neighborhood Representatives

To help us reach out to more people in the area, we would like your help at the local neighborhood level. For your neighborhood, raise your hand and help us increase awareness about NCCSR and, in particular, increase participation. Here are some steps you could take:

1) Add information about NCCSR to your neighborhood web site

2) Add an article about our operation to your neighborhood newsletter
3) Post a NCCSR Flyer at your local pool.
4) Hand deliver some Flyers to your neighbors.

Contact the Center - best to use the Contact US tab / form on the home page - if you can lead this effort within your neighborhood.

Adopt a School
Similar to the local neighborhood idea, this is to create awareness of the North Carolina Community Sailing & Rowing youth programs. Meet with parents from your local school and talk about the opportunity for their upper middle school and high school students. Host an informational meeting of interested parents and students at your home and we will provide staff to explain our programs. Post an item on the local school e-mail distriabution list about NCCSR

Boat & Trailer maintenance
We're looking for a group of skilled folks who can perform routine maintenance, fiberglass work, and repair/replace parts as necessary.  Our current fleet includes 7-Flying Scot sailboats and their trailers, 15-420 Dinghys and their dollies, 10 Sunfish and 2 powerboats and their trailers.

Sailing Instructors
Our sailing program is up and running and we are expanding our pool of interested instructors.  We will train volunteers who are interested and help prepare them to become US Sailing Small Boat Level 1 certified.  Check our website for the schedule of classes offered.  Your commitment can be as minimal as instructing one class.

Rowing Instructors

Our rowing program is all volunteer and is seeking experienced rowers to help operate the scholastic and adult programs. Please review our rowing page and contact us if you wish to help grow this new and exciting program.

Landscaping
We are now ready to spruce up the landscaping around the Center. We have a small group of volunteers working towards a wonderful vision. f you are interested in gardening, please let us know.
